Long Description
Large Coca-Cola metal sign with a metal "Teen Town" banner that is bolted on. The curvature of the Coca-cola sign and the Teen Town banner match which I believe indicates this is how the sign was originally constructed. It is very large, approximately 4" tall by 6" wide. There are some minor rust spots and the sign is very dirty as shown in the picture.Â
History
This item was found in a building we purchased in Pensacola, FL. The building was previously a printing shop. Walking into this building was like a time warp. Up until the last day in operation (circa 2008) everything was done the old fashioned way. No technology in the building what-so-ever, no Digital printing. The building was full of antique Heidelberg printers, letterpress, antique film, simply fascinating! This building was purchased through an estate. The daughters of the late owner had sent scrappers in to take all of the equipment. Everything of personal effect was left for us to clean up and sort out. I found a trunk with hundreds of love letters in it dated from the 40s and 50s corresponding with females in Detroit. There were dozens of documents regarding the late owner's membership in Phi Beta Sigma fraternity. The Coke sign was found in the attic of the building. I tried doing some research on 'Teen Town' and found it was a Detroit based music variety show that ran in syndication in the mid-1960s. This seems fitting to the geodemographic clues in the late owner's personal property. I have not been able to find a duplicate or anything even similar to this sign anywhere online.
