I have been told that this chandelier appears to date back to 1910-20. Â I am not going to sell it, in fact I just purchased it for our home. Â We thought it would go great in our Colonial-themed great room and it is being installed right now!
Width: Â 5 feet
Material: Â Carved wood base, carved wood cups, wood accent pieces painted in gold leaf appear on all arms. The arms are a type of metal. The wooden material is not a composite material that looks like wood -- it is real wood. The "tassel" accent piece is metal - with tiny little circular metal strings.
The electrician feel that some of it has been rewired, but that all wiring is in good condition. Â You can see the photos for the two old stickers that appeared on the fixture. Â
It was purchased in an antique store in Richmond, VA, 27 years ago, but the owner has no history. Â It has been hanging in a rug store in Richmond ever since. Â In this area, we are close to Colonial Williamsburg, Monticello, and other sites that are rich in history. Â
The condition is excellent now that I have cleaned it. Â I lightly buffed it with lemon oil and found no blemishes. Â Based on the size of it, it would have been hanging in a very large room and at a height that would prevent it from being handled a lot. Â The gold leaf paint is faded in spots, which I love. Â It let's the age show.
I would like to know the value of our beautiful new chandelier and would also be most interested in how I could trace back the origin of where something like this might have been hanging. Â I would love to know the history -- if ONLY it could talk!
Thank you so much for any advise you can offer!
