I am looking for any information about this tin.
The only background information that I have found is this:Â
1929, the Merlin Products Corporation in New York made a powdered detergent that was sold in a box with paper labeling. I have found that this box has sold at several Ebay online auctions, but I cannot find much reference of a product sold in a tin. The tin that I have has very similar graphics as the boxed product.
During an online search I did find that there was a gentlman in the UK who purchased two of these tins from a thrift store, and he stated that the tins contained a polishing cloth of some sort.
The tin itself is 4 3/4 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches in diameter. The tin does not have any trademark, address or company information. The lettering on the tin is not raised, and the graphic is printed in multiple colors- something I'm told began somewhere around 1930. The tin has some corrosion around the base. Seems to have a brass coating to the metal as well.
The pictures attached are of the tin canister but I have also attached pictures of the powdered detergent in a box made by the same company for reference or identification help.
